Welcome to the Shoreland Elementary School Website!
On August 26th the Shoreland staff and students welcomed 88 new kindergartners and me into their family. I, along with the kindergartners, felt both excitement and nervousness about the changes taking place in our lives. Change. I believe change is good and necessary. It challenges us to color outside the lines and to step outside our comfort zones. After spending over 20 years at Whitmer High School, I am delighted and honored to be the new principal at Shoreland Elementary. I am embracing this wonderful change in my life and am welcoming the new ideas and possibilities that will come along with it.
The staff at Shoreland is truly committed to creating and maintaining a learning culture of excellence that supports our students in their academic and personal growth. Our knowledgeable staff works hard to create engaging lessons to meet the individual needs of all students. We provide rich academic experiences through quality instruction, data-driven instruction and a focused curriculum.
While growing and learning are at the very heart of our work with students, we are also dedicated to growing and learning as a staff. Through teacher collaboration, district in-services and staff development we are committed to being life-long learners.
The staff at Shoreland realizes the success of our students is also dependent upon the involvement of our families and community members. We are extremely fortunate to have such wonderful family and community support. We strive to continue to work collaboratively with our parents, guardians and extended family members to ensure our students' success.
While Shoreland Elementary is a large school with approximately 600 students in grades kindergarten through six, it is our mission to inspire joy in learning and to excel at preparing each student for the future.
